What is footfall counting?

Footfall counting is the monitoring of footfall into, out of, and around your building. This can be done manually, but modern footfall counting systems gather data automatically using a variety of devices such as footfall counting cameras, sensors, and machines.

Footfall counting for retail

Customer counting is often used in the retail sector to help predict and plan marketing/merchandising layout to maximise expensive floor space and monitor areas of your premises where there is inefficiently used space. It helps you to understand:

  • How many customers you are getting in one or multiple store.
  • How to effectively plan staff timetables to manage varying traffic throughout the day/seasons.
  • How your in-store campaigns performed and how they affected footfall.

Footfall counting, or people counting, is also used in other sectors for a wide range of management decisions, including monitoring of occupancy for COVID / fire or other safety controls and monitoring out-of-hours use of your premises.

Occupancy counting and reports

Our footfall counting system has an Automated Occupancy Control System that provides real market intelligence.

We are able to provide high-tech occupancy counting with smart displays, helping to ensure that occupancy limits are not exceeded. A live dashboard and alerts allow you to efficiently manage occupancy thresholds and to take swift action if they are exceeded.

These live dashboard can also be used to share occupancy levels with your customers, helping them to determine how busy your premises are likely to be at different times throughout the day and manage customer traffic.
